The Volunteer Chapter was invited by Marilyn Childress and the Veterans Heritage Site Foundation for their annual Gold Star Mothers and Family Day Ceremony at the Historic Ramsey House in Knoxville, Tennessee on September 28th. Kelly Swanson along, with Lynn and Jay Forehand, represented the Volunteer Chapter. Kelly spoke on behalf of the Chapter, and advised everyone of all the wonderful ways the Chapter supports our Veterans. The Gold Star Families placed flags in honor of their fallen heroes. Taps was played and there was a 21-gun salute. After the ceremony, light refreshments were served and the “Salute to Tennessee’s Fallen Memorial” was displayed. The memorial honors Tennessee service members who have died in action since September 11, 2001. It was a moving ceremony, and the Volunteer Chapter was honored to be a part of it.
